June 12
Well, my bandages came off after a week, I still have 'holes' from surgery, but it will be worth it if it works! I have been a bad blogger since typing for any length of time is not too comfortable, I start physio next week so I have fingers crossed all will be well. I have pictures of the horrid contraption I was hooked up too, but need to figure out which one is the best angle wise. I was linked up to a shoulder cuff/cup thing. It looks like a beer cooler that plugs into the wall, and you fill it with ice. There are hoses that hook up to the shoulder cuff/cup thing, and these circulate the ice water over/under/around my shoulder. It has helped cut down on painkillers, and keeps the swelling under control. Ok, so it is VERY UNFLATTERING, but then again, what the hell is glamerous about surgery? I admit it was horrible to go through, I am a wimp, but as I said, it will be worth it in the long run if I get my shoulder movement back. I can't wait to hug WITH 2 ARMS AGAIN!!!!
May 12 Well, the beginning of a hectic time is upon me! I am off to the island today, for a quick trip for lawyers and family and friends, then back over here, then off to 'cat-sit' in Coquitlam, which means the battle of the bridge at rushhour, which is pretty much 24hours on the bridge, then back and the househunt continues (yes, I am moving at the end of the month), then surgery is next week. So far most of my stuff has been moved into a storage locker, I am down to the barebones of it all at home. One laptop, one tv, one duffle bag of clothing, and disposable dishes. I have no idea what my 'down time' will be after surgery, so I didn't want any nasty moving suprises. This way all the big stuff is done, and if it has to sit in a storage locker for a bit, I don't really care. I can get to it when I can get to it, no panic, no rush. Finding a new home is stressful, I don't want to settle just because it is crunch time. I am waiting for a few phonecalls on a couple of places I have checked out, so hoping something pans out by the time I get back from the island. My cousin is out of town, and thought she had someone lined up for her pets, but at the last minute (last night actually) she called to say it fell through, so I am cutting my trip short so I can be back to watch her cat and birds. I will stay every other night at her place, and be back here for more house hunting etc on the opposite days/evenings. The only crappy thing about going there is the bridge. Distance wise she is not to far, maybe half and hour on a good day, but ,,,, there is a bridge that seems to have perpetual rush hour around it, and it can add another 1/2 hour or more to the trip, one way, and there is really no safe time to avoid it. Trust me, I have tried! She is gone until next week, so that will be interesting anyways, and then surgery is next week, so I need to make sure all the other stuff is dealt with leading up to that. As I said, I have no idea how long I will be out of commision for after wards (hopefully not long), but I want to make sure I can have at least one or two days of blissfull nothingness! Fingers crossed, eyes crossed, legs crossed,, lol. May 04 Well, ok that might be a bit much, but hey, I am proud of meeeeeeeeeee! I have not been online much, as one of my smoking 'triggers' is the computer and a cup of coffee. A smoke just seemed to fit right in there, so ,, I cut back my computer time, and my coffee drinking. I did the tootsie roll thing for a few days, but then even the sight of one made me ill. Then I got a brainstorm! I had heard of 'natural' cigarettes, there is a brand they sell at the health food store called Honeyrose. I figured smoking was as much habit as it was craving, so, off I went and got some Honeyrose. They did the trick! Once the need for tobacco was gone (ok, still not completely, but working on it), I just had to work on braking the habit of hand to mouth. Honeyrose tastes disgusting, they burn REALLY fast, and there was no enjoyment out of them. There for, I now don't need tootsie rolls, or Honeyrose, or anything else, I AM A NON SMOKER ONCE AGAIN! I really couldn't care less if someone else is a smoker, I am not the type to start with the "hey, if I can quit, so can you " speach. Each person has their own issues, and I had to quit on my terms, not someone elses. Another reason I had motivation to quit is I finally got a surgery date for me shoulder, and I really don't want to be a smoker and undergo that. I want to go into it as healthy as possible, if there are any complications then it won't be my fault lol. I am going to the gym 6 days a week right now too, which also helped me quit, I never craved a smoke when I work out, and also walking everynight after dinner, fresh air in the lungs, versus smoke,, hmmm, tough one eh? So, I am off to have some coffee, smoke free coffee, haha, and then out to enjoy the sunshine. Well, ok, 'grey'shine, but whatever it is, I will enjoy! April 24 This is my daughter, also know as 'my grumpy spawn'. She of the long hair persuasion! My granddaughter took the picture, which I think turned out fantastic! As mentioned in my previous post, she was upset by my choice of getting a haircut. She has since said I look like a MILF, after veiwing pics of my chop job. I am assuming that is a good thing? As a quick update here is my hair natural. I washed it and the natural wierdo wave came back. It looks darker again, but that is just the lighting.
